I welcome our new format for the Herald, our main source of distributing information to you, our church family. There are so many positives to our new approach. Harrisburg has been and is a cutting edge church and this new Herald with all of its color, graphics and inclusion of all ministries/ministers will bring us even more into the twenty-first century. My approach to my specific article will continue to include encouragement to you and special information regarding emphases that are of interest and importance to our church family.
A word of appreciation is extended to all of you who made our “Jesus Is the Answer Revival” a great blessing to all who attended. Approximately 400 people served in some capacity. Our team, Dr. Preston Nix and Bob Smith, did a superb job of delivering the Word and sharing inspirational music. Our Revival Preparation Committee Chairmen are to be commended once again.
Our church family experienced 140 new members for the 2009- 2010 church year. On November 7, Patsy and I will host our eighth “Pizza With the Pastor” fellowship in our home for our newest adult members during the last three months. Several of our deacons / wives will help us greet these new members into our home and church family. We want all of them to know how much they mean to us and we welcome them. It is a great time of fellowship.
Operation Christmas Child is a vital part of our church family. Please begin to prepare your box or boxes and bring them on November 14, 6:00 p.m. What a wonderful way to begin the Thanksgiving- Christmas season. We have the opportunity to share our blessings with little children around the world.
We will complete our twentieth semester of FAITH this month with our largest participation ever. Several people have been saved, others have joined by letters of membership, but one of the greatest benefits of the FAITH ministry is the equipping of Christians to effectively share their faith in Christ with other people. There is no way to measure the equipping of the saints and the enjoyment of fellowship that takes place. Our next semester begins in February.
Enjoy this first edition of the Herald in this format. Keep it somewhere where you can easily retrieve it for information during the month of November.
In Christ,
Brother Forrest
